Message from the President

G’Day to all our Members and those out there scanning our sensational new website

With concerted effort from local fishermen and following extensive deliberation between all interested parties in and around Jindabyne, entailing several informal meetings, the Jindabyne Fishing Club was finally re-formed this year.

At the inaugural meeting of the Club, formerly known as the Snowy Mountains Freshwater Fishing Club,  a Committee was duly selected by the Members, now numbering over 120 financial fishos.

Details and contact numbers for our Committee Members appear on the website. Anyone requiring information regarding the Club or desirous of posting blogs, photos or other interesting items on the web please send them to JFC Club Secretary Andy Bicanic.

Since inception, our Club has hosted three successful and very enjoyable competitions on Lake Jindabyne. The Club endeavours to attract locals and tourists, with families in particular, to enjoy the activities made available during these events.

A fair percentage of our current Members are boat owners and it is pleasing to observe the friendship and exchange of information between the boaties on all aspects of trolling, down rigging and associated methods used to capture the target species.  The invitations from the boaties to the land dwellers, especially the kids, to join in and appreciate the trolling skills  of others, has also been well received.

As summer approaches, the Committee has organised two competitions, the first during the October long weekend and the second during the 40th Snowy Mountains Trout Festival,  commencing on the 2nd November,  2013.

Further competitions will be held on the first weekend of December, Feb ,March &,April-2014.

The details, rules and other information with respect to these competitions are available on the Club website and all interested are encouraged to participate in the festivities during this period.

For those inquiring about membership, from now until 31st Dec  the Club has 2014 joining fees set at $25.00 including the remainder of 2013.

2014 Fees will increase after 31st Dec.

Further Club promotions commence at the Banjo Paterson Inn on the 4th October,  2013,  with weekly raffles each Friday from 5.30pm proceeds will be used to fund a community project to benefit the local fishing fraternity.

I expect the JFC shirts to arrive by the end of October, an exciting and colourful design has been approved by the Committee and the order placed recently, shirts will be for sale through SMS Jindabyne

In closing,  I would take this opportunity to thank our Members for their support and participation during past events.  To our sponsors, (listed on the home page),  on behalf of the Committee,  I thank you for your vision  and continued support since the re-formation of our Club.

Bob Frost.
